Jervis Bay

Sunday morning was the start of Dean, Alana and Joel`s road trip to Melbourne, Jervis Bay.  I really wanted to see this too, so Joel and I drove together in Brutis while Dean and Alana followed in their car.  Not a great drive in our car- I got a parking ticket for parking in a no stopping zone the night before and Joel was pretty mad about the high fine on it!  The drive itself is beautiful, one of the prettiest drives I`ve been on.  Jervis is about three hours south of Sydney.  It goes right along the coast and there are lots of ocean lookout points.    Kiama is the halfway point and is so scenic- green rolling hills and tons of wineries.  Wouldn`t have minded spending a whole weekend in this area exploring.

When we got in to Jervis we headed to Hyams Beach.  In my opinion, this is the most beautiful beach in Australia!  White, soft sand and turquoise water.  If you come to Oz, make sure to stop here.  We chilled out here for awhile and Dean was the only one brave enough to test out the water.

We had lunch here, then drove into a national park to check out another beach, where we saw a walla bee (like a small kangaroo).  Around six I started the drive back to Sydney.  I was sad to say goodbye to everyone and wished I could have continued on with them on the trip, but someone had to make us some money!  The drive back was long and uneventful, with more stupid variable speed. I love that at home you can usually go ten over the speed and it`s not a big deal- here there are cameras everywhere and one km over and you`re fined.  I stopped at Wollongong to see the big Chinese Temple that`s there, but as it was already dark the gates were closed.  Oh well.

We had daylight savings here on Sunday, so are now an extra hour ahead of Alberta.  I`m enjoying leaving work in the light.

The crew has made it to Melbourne and are currently at the Crown Casino.  Hope no one loses anymore money!

Any computer savy people able to help me out with a problem on my keyboard- I did something and my question marks now come up as É.  How do I change this back, it`s annoying!!!
