Sunshine!

The rain, wind and clouds we've been getting have finally moved on and we have some beautiful sunshine!  Yesterday I went and sat at the beach to enjoy it (I haven't been for a month!) and it felt so good to feel the sun on my skin and hear the waves crashing in.  The water is still quite rough and not as clear due to the wind we did have last week, but the beach is still pretty nice.  I have to do my best to enjoy living so close to such a beautiful place.  Funny, I thought I'd go there everyday, but the novelty has sort of worn off.  Today I intended on going out for a walk to enjoy the sun, but ended up spending all afternoon on skype with Baby Sister and Merissa.  Oh well, I enjoyed the catch ups.

I got myself a new side gig!  I overheard one of the clients at the salon saying she needed a baby sitter for her girls so I told her I'd be interested.  I went on Friday night for a few hours test and the girls loved me, so I hope I'll get to go back again.  This was my first time in a real Australian home.  So far I've only been in little apartments, so it was cool to see how a real family lives.  There kitchen made me miss the beautiful kitchen we had back home!  Oh, to have a normal sized fridge again.

My parents arrive in Oz in eighteen days!  I'm really excited, I have a countdown going lol.  They're going to spend under a week up here on the Gold Coast to see where we've been living, then we get to do some travel!  I'm so excited to finally get to see another part of the country.  We'll be flying down to Adelaide, which is in the south, and will get to check out the city and the famous wineries nearby, then drive the famed Great Ocean Road to Melbourne.  Hopefully we'll have some time in Melbourne to check out the job scene, as we are planning on moving down there towards the end of August.

I'm also counting the days till we move.  The Gold Coast is a beautiful place, but it is just not home to me.  It's one of those places that's cool for a week or so on vacation, but not to live.  Joel loves it here (mainly for the golf I think) and I am so glad he is willing to move to another city for me!  Joel's legal last day at Audi is Aug 21 (on our current visa we can only work for a maximum of six months for one employer), so we will be packing and cleaning up the apartment that week and heading south to Melbourne!

Since deciding we are for sure coming home at the end of our year's stay, this huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  I don't feel so homesick or sad now because I know there is an end in sight.  I always thought I wanted to leave Canada, but now that I have I realize it's a pretty awesome place to be! (aside from the horrible winter weather, but that's why there are all-inclusive vacations!)  Now I'm going to do my best to enjoy every day here and all that Australia has to offer.  I made a list of all the places in Oz that I'd like to see, so I hope our wallets allow us to get to them all!
